About the School.

DON BOSCO SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL – NERUL, NAVI MUMBAI

St. John Bosco (popularly known as Don Bosco) founded the salesian congregation. He had an immense love for the young. He played with them, laughed with them, cried with them, took care of them, built schools and boardings for them. He spent his entire life for the young! His followers are called Salesians. All over the world, following in the footsteps of this great saint, they devote their lives for the growth of the young, especially the poor and the abandoned. Today the Salesian Society, has established all over India, schools, colleges, technical and agricultural schools and colleges, Non-Formal Institutions, Institutions of Higher Learning, and have even set up a university. In keeping with the times, the Salesian Society in India, has also opened up institutions for remedial education for school drop-outs, special facilities for counseling and guidance and assistance to mentally challenged students in schools and at our specially opened Centres. We provide boarding facilities for orphans and single parents, for expats who seek an education in India, as well as Educational Homes for the marginalized in society vi.x School-drop-outs, street children and youngsters who are victims of drug and alcohol abuses and seek a recovery option.

Don Bosco
Educational Institutes, are perceived as Institutes of class, for they have a fine blend of academics, sports and culture. The Goal of Education in a school is successfully fulfilled, if there is a strong academic foundation. But the real success of education is a blend of academics and co-curricular activities.

Keeping his charism in mind, the Salesians at Don Bosco Nerul continue the work on behalf of the young, started by Don Bosco.

Don Bosco Senior Secondary school is open to students of any caste, religion, social standing; and strives for the integral development of every student – to help develop the student’s spirit, mind and body.

The educational method followed in this Institution, hinges on three basic Principles: viz. Reason, Faith in God and Loving Kindness and uses the preventive system of Don Bosco.

Based on the conviction that the heart of education is the education of the heart, Don Bosco Senior Secondary School aims to bring up our students to be honest and value-inculcated citizens, who will take their rightful place and play a responsible role in society.

Don Bosco Senior Secondary School is what we hope this institute will be under the tutelage of the CBSE Board. We began the school about 4 years ago (June 2006). It is situated in Nerul, Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra on a 5 acre plot. It is presently run by the Don Bosco Educational Society, with headquarters in Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga, Mumbai. The Institute at Nerul, conducts a regular course of studies from Nursery to Class IX.
